Who we are

PhoneFree (“we”, “us”) is a focus and screen-time app operated by Fahad Zaidi. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it when you use the PhoneFree iOS app and related services.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and authentication details (for example Sign in with Apple). You may also choose a username, display name, and profile emoji.

Focus and usage data. We store focus session history, streaks, stats, schedules you create, badges earned, and similar app activity so features work across devices and for social features you enable.

Social features. If you use friends, groups, feed, or leaderboards, other users may see your profile info and activity you share (such as completed focus sessions), subject to the app’s access rules.

Screen Time / blocking selections. App and website blocking uses Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls APIs. Selections you make are stored on your device (and, where applicable, in an App Group on your device). We do not receive a list of your installed apps from Apple in a readable form for advertising.

Subscriptions and purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple. We may store subscription status metadata (for example product id, active/trialing status, and renewal period) to unlock Pro features. We do not receive your full payment card details.

Device and diagnostics. We may receive basic technical information needed to run the service (such as app version or error logs) through our hosting providers.

How we use information

• Provide and improve PhoneFree features (sessions, blocking, schedules, social)
• Authenticate you and secure your account
• Sync your data across devices via our backend
• Process and verify Pro subscription access
• Communicate about the service when needed (for example account or support)

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

We share information only as needed to operate PhoneFree, including:

• Service providers such as Supabase (database and authentication hosting)
• Apple for Sign in with Apple, Screen Time APIs, and In-App Purchases
• Other users for features you use (friends, groups, feed, leaderboards)
• When required by law or to protect rights and safety

Data retention

We keep account and activity data while your account is active. You can request deletion by contacting us. Some records may be retained for a limited time for legal, security, or operational reasons.

Your choices

• Update profile details in the app
• Manage or cancel Apple subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
• Control Screen Time / Family Controls permissions in iOS Settings
• Contact us to access, correct, or delete account data where applicable

Children

PhoneFree is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than where you live. We use providers that offer appropriate safeguards for that processing.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
